The studio is located at 681 Portobello Road, Broad Bay, just before the Broad Bay boat club and beach. We have limited car parking on site, however, there are plenty of car parks available on Portobello Road directly opposite the pottery studio.

Most of Peter’s work is wheel-thrown on an electric Shimpo wheel using white earthenware clays, though some pots are made by pressing clay into moulds. The wheel-thrown pieces are decorated with a variety of colourful designs - from the abstract to the quirky - inspired by Peter’s surroundings, using commercial and self-made coloured slips.  A clear glaze is applied to the pieces, which are then fired in electric kilns to 1250 degrees Celsius.

Red Shed Pottery’s opening hours are 1pm to 4pm on Sundays, although they can vary. If you’re wondering whether or not we’re open on a given weekend, the  Red Shed Pottery Google Business Profile has our current information.

Yes, Peter makes customised pottery. If you have a specific idea in mind for a custom piece, get in touch through the contact page to discuss it with Peter and see if it is within his capabilities.

Unfortunately, Peter’s pieces are not currently available for purchase online. If you would like to buy a piece, pop in and visit us in person, or contact us if you live elsewhere, and we can arrange an alternate method of payment.
